I’m sure that you’ve heard about all of the heartbreaking natural disasters occurring lately.
I hope that they don’t make you ask where God is. Because He’s here and He’s working. He doesn’t want to see us suffer. He doesn’t want bad things to happen (which happen because humans are sinners- see this post for more on that), but He’s using the tragedies to teach lessons and to turn hearts toward him.
I hope that you are realizing your mortality and that tomorrow is not promised.
I hope that you see that you can’t endure the hardships of this world without God.
So if you’re realizing all of this and you haven’t completely given your life over to Him, wouldn’t now be a good time?!
To ensure an eternity in Heaven in the presence of Jesus, rather than endure eternity in Hell, you need to believe in who Jesus Christ is and what He did for you, and decide to follow Him with the rest of your life. That means that you will repent of your sins (do your best to stop doing the things God has asked us not to do and do the things he asked us to do). This is the start of a personal relationship with the Savior.
Do you know what Jesus did for you? Jesus is God. He came to earth and lived a perfect life, then was killed on a cross. He died to take the punishment for your sins! Three days after Jesus was killed, He rose again. He could not be found in His tomb and he appeared to hundreds of people after his death. Because He is God, death could not conquer Him! All you need to do is accept His mercy and grace, which is the greatest gift you could ever receive. And anyone can accept this gift.
There is so much more to the story. This is just the beginning! But it is also the most important part.
If you decide to give your life to Jesus, He will change it dramatically.
If you don’t know already, you will learn what the Bible has to teach. You will find a joy in your heart that never goes away. You may start desiring different things. You might start attending church if you’re not already. You will create new relationships. You will find yourself seeking more of God and wanting to serve him. You will find purpose in your life. And you will have a hope for the future that you have never had before, because you will know that you will live in eternal happiness in God’s presence after you die.
If you have any questions, ask me!
If you would rather, do some research on your own by looking up what the Bible has to say. If you want to start reading the Bible to see what it has to say about all of this, check out the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, or John (the gospels; they’re actually in the middle of the Bible).
If you really want to know what God can do in your life, ask a Christian to tell you their story.
I pray that you will all accept God’s gift of salvation.
